Bastia Castle is one of the over 160 Castles and Castle ruins you'll encounter in the Lunigiana region of Tuscany. The Castle is located just east of Licciana Nardi in the Lunigiana region of Tuscany.
The Bastia Castle is actually a 13th century Renaissance fortress. Itss important and mighty structure gave it the reputation of an “impregnable castle”. The Bastia Castle stands on the highest hill in the town of Bastia, dominating a large part of the Taverone Valley. ~ Castello della Bastia
The castle was strategically situated on a crossroad linking Liguria and Tuscany and the Emilia-Romagna.
You can see from the satellite map the way the borgo of Bastia is spread around the central castle, and the vineyards planted on the southern slopes.
